Thanks for making today easy for me.

Today, I'll start off by saying that I don't intend this to be a nasty blog -- I'm not trying to look for specific reasons to "unfriend" people.  I think that a lot of people were added to my account because I have a specific attachment to them, a shared moment that ties me to a particular point in my life, and that seeing their face jogs some nostalgia from the deep recesses of my mind.  I hope that each day's released friend post will eventually become a mini-tribute to that person, and will journal some of my experiences from long ago.

But today, when I went to find my "unfriend," a status update piqued my curiosity.

"Bring your favorite pet to Blessing Of The Animals.  (Time/date/location redacted)"

Are you serious?

I raise an eyebrow every time I see someone proselytize via social networks -- it's one of the few venues in life where I adhere pretty strictly to the "don't discuss religion, sex, or politics" rule.  I'm somewhat mistrustful of anyone who feels the need to loudly profess their allegiance, unsolicited, to ANY group.

It's cool with me if you want to be religious.  But you don't need to get in my face about it.  If you truly have faith, then it's of no matter to you whether or not I approve or want to join in.

Today's "unfriend", however, is spending her Sunday morning converting dogs and cats.  That's crazypants.  With a capital CRAZY.

So here's your tribute before we part:  Thank you for teaching me the "Fifty Nifty United States" song, I still sing it often when I'm trying to jog my memory of a specific place in the U.S.  I'm sure I'll teach it to my kids.  Speaking of kids, I'm curious to know how many you have?  It seems that every school year, you were out on maternity leave at some point.  Not trying to be judgey!  Just found it interesting that every year you had a bulging tummy -- and I thought it was quite scandalous, considering i'd just found out about how babies got in there....  Yes, you were married, but did you realize that everybody knew that you and your husband DID IT???

Anyhow.  I'm also glad to see that you've become so involved in my hometown's musical community, and if I ever find myself back there to stay, I'm sure that will lead us to cross paths again.  I just hope you don't mind if I'm blind, stinkin' drunk!  (See previous post.)
